Best Educational Linux Distributions for Students


Linux distributions are used by users which are mostly programmers or students studying computer science ,programming in language.So these are list of some good linux distributions based on famous distributions like ubuntu,opensuse,fedora...






  







  1.openSUSE 12.1 Edu Li-f-e

openSUSE Education team is proud to present another edition of openSUSE-Edu Li-f-e (Linux for Education) based on openSUSE 12.1. Li-f-e comes loaded with everything that students, parents, teachers and system admins of educational institutions may need.
Softwares for mathematics, chemistry, astronomy etc, servers like KIWI-LTSPFedena school ERP, Moodle course management etc., full multimedia, graphics, office suite, many popular programming languages including AMP stack, java, C, C++, python, ruby, latest stable Gnome and KDE desktop environments and lot more is packed in this release. 2. Fedora Scientific Spin
Fedora Scientific currently ships with numerous applications and libraries. These range from libraries such as the GNU Scientific library, the SciPy libraries, tools like Octave and xfig to typesetting tools like Kile and graphics programs such as Inkscape. The current set of packages include an IDE, tools and libraries for programming in C, C++, Python, Java and R. Also included along with are libraries for parallel computing such as the OpenMPI and OpenMP. Tools for typesetting, writing and publishing are included. 3.Edubuntu
Edubuntu is a partner project of Ubuntu Linux, a distribution suitable for classroom use. The aim is that an educator with limited technical knowledge and skill will be able to set up a computer lab, or establish an on-line learning environment, in an hour or less, and then administer that environment without having to become a fully-fledged Linux geek.

4.Zorin OS Educational
Zorin OS Educational is based on Zorin OS 5 Core and uses the GNOME Classic 2.32 desktop environment. Zorin OS 5 Educational includes dozens of educational programs for primary, secondary and tertiary education students. 5.EduBoss
EduBOSS, adapted from BOSS GNU/Linux, has educational applications that are useful for school students (primary and higher levels). Features include educational games, paint & graphic tools, typing tutor, and a host of tools and packages for basic learning, and also for teaching subjects like Maths, Science, Social etc. for higher classes. It also contains an eLearning editor which enables teachers to design, develop and publish web-based learning and teaching materials as well on-line quiz, tests and self-evaluation procedures
